I’ve been wanting to create a new home for developers who want to blog, so that’s what I hope DeveloperBlogs.com will become. I’ve installed the latest version of WordPress-MU and a cool plugin called BuddyPress. Together these should provide the foundation for a reliable multi-user blogging community.
Would you like to have a blog here to share your thoughts? If you feel you’re going to be at least somewhat focused on developer-related topics, then I’d be happy to have you on the site. I have long admired ScienceBlogs.com, and there’s no reason we should enjoy a similar site for developers.
Shoot me an email if you want to request a blog. If you’d like to move your existing blog to a new home here, then we can probably arrange that, too.

Hi Rick,
Good to hear about the new blog site. I have always enjoyed the JavaLobby site and now DZone, but I ran into problems with JRoller. I wanted to set up a blog on JRoller site but the main registration page seemed point to some default site from Apache (left over from the JRoller implementation?). I tried it several times and then attempted to send some email requesting registration. Unfortunately, I never got any type of response and so I started a blog at Blogger.com/Blogspot.
Hi Mike, I’m sorry for the issues you faced when trying to get started with JRoller. We had always allowed JRoller to be a wide open self-serve model, but the Intarwebz just ain’t what they used to be. We ended up with thousands of bogus blogs created for bad guys to use to do bad things, and that was no fun to police or clean up.
With DeveloperBlogs.com we have a different vision. We want to be more selective about who gets a place here so that we can be sure the abuses we suffered at JRoller aren’t duplicated. We don’t want to put the bar too high, but rather just to be sure someone who takes a spot in this system is going to be developer focused and reasonably active.
We’d be delighted to help you migrate if you’d like to. I hope you will. Is this one yours? http://mmillerlacrosse.blogspot.com/
@Rick Ross
Thanks for the reply, I had no idea about the abuse of JRoller. No, that blog entry is not mine, although I have several things in common with him, other than just the name. My blog can be found as a link on my name in the comment posted. http://programmingitch.blogspot.com/
